Originally hailing from Wisconsin, Joe Tierney began playing music at a young age. He went on to study music and history at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where he had the opportunity to learn from and perform with many world-renowned jazz musicians and educators. He graduated in 2012 and began his music career in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. In 2015 he escaped the clutches of an eternal winter and relocated to the Treasure Coast of Florida to join the nationally-touring Alex Meixner Band. Taking a step back from touring, Joe now performs mostly locally with a wide variety of artists in addition to a solo project that he began in 2018. Affectionately known by many as “Sweet Butter Joe,” he continues to ‘spread’ his smooth sax sounds to delighted audiences everywhere. He is extremely excited for the opportunity to study, capture, and recreate the iconic, groundbreaking sounds of Pink Floyd with this excellent band!
